    Gemstone carvings of animals and birds in particular have been around for centuries. In the seventeenth century gemstone carving began in a small town in Germany called Idar-Oberstein. That tradition continues today and EAT gallery with its world-wide contacts is able to bring you the work of a German carver living and working in Brazil, one of the most mineral-rich countries on earth. We are therefore fortunate to have the best of both worlds...the tradition and talent from Europe and the bountiful gem materials from South America.
